I just installed a chip and cold air intake on my ranger as well as
a larger muffler and tail pipe. I noticed while I was under there that
the y pipe and header pipes are ridduled with resonators and cats.
Has anyone installed headers and removed the cats with favorable
results? By the way it does run better. Pulls harder in higher gears
for sure. Don't know about the gas mileage yet. On first tank.

Factory cats are are fairly high flow. You aren't going to gain much, if anything, by removing the cats. You will throw codes and not pass emissions. If you have removed the factory muffler, the heads are where your restriction is.

As far as headers, don't waste your time on a nearly stock motor. One guy actually lost 3 hp ON THE DYNO with JBA headers. 4.0 SOHC exhaust manifolds flow very well.

what kind of exhaust did u get and do u got pics of it installed
