EXHAUST... X is up in the air !!!!

Caldwell, you might be a tad closer in horsepower because you are rated at 210HP and I have 239HP. Once you get your tune, I bet you will be very close to a stock V8 and maybe, maybe even beat one;) I think next should be an electric fan and UDP, should help that red rocket move quicker. I want to get a CAI, tune, UDP and electric fan so bad, but I am focused at paying this thing off and getting a house that I can't bring myself to do it. Keep up the good work man.

I never thought of a FAN... better cooling could promote a stronger engine...

good thinking !

you said your at 239HP... is that stock or with your exhaust ???

with the INTAKE/EXHAUST i figured i gained a little bit of HP/TQ

i guess im at 220/260 maybe... i wonder what a dyno run would cost me to get an exact number ? but the run would measure WHP

210HP is off the crank, i wonder what an X stock actually gets to the ground

The electric fan would reduce drag/resistance on the engine, freeing up available HP and possibly freeing some MPG.

A tune with something like the SCT tuner should nett you around 20hp or more - if not, the tuning is not being done right. I have seen these things extract over 30hp on a 5.0 windsor. The TB spacer will be worth nothing (yes, I have one - it looks nice, but that's it). New plugs and leads (even stock ones) would give a better power reading than old ones, but would only be a few hp at most. Aftermarket coilpacks could be worth 5 or 10hp, but really, all they do is deliver spark, and again, new coil packs will generally perform better than old ones.

239 is my stock rating, 210 is your stock rating. If you are changing your plugs and wires, you should change your fuel filter if you haven't had that done yet. I need to get a tune up on mine soon because the drag strip is about to open and there is a certain Mountaineer that I wanna run;)

Taylor makes both a 8mm Spiro Pro and a Thunder Volt 8.2 mm for the 4.0L. They can be found on page 8 of http://www.taylorvertex.com/PDFS/ApplicationGuide.pdf. I'm looking at installing the TV 8.2mm on mine sometime in the future. I had a set of their 409 Spriro Pro's on my 92 civic and they made a huge improvement in throttle response and with the combination of mods I did (none of that all show/no go stuff), I was able to get about 4+ MPG better then stock, but I never really kept good track. All I had there was CAI, Flowmaster muffler w/ custom 2.25" catback and the Taylor wires.
