Hello,

I am trying to find out if 99-04 Mustang GT's 4.6 2V got same internals with my 2004 4.6 Modular? I know that my modular prolly got windsor block while mustangs prolly got different ones later in production, not sure what name. But that is only one part, what about other internal parts? are they the same?

If you know the differences between those engines, please name them, that would be helpful.

I am trying to figure how much of a power I can push into my engine by comparing with mustang's 4.6 2V engines which can withstand some boost.

Maybe if some upgrades are needed then I am willing to do it.

Yes the engines are nearly identical, the biggest difference is the block. ALL 99-04 mustang GT's have an iron block and ALL 02-05 Explorer's/mountaineers have an aluminum block. You can buy heads, cams, stroker kits, etc for a mustang and they will go onto your motor. It's the front dress(alt/power steering pump location, etc) that's a little different then the stangs that make mounting a supercharger a little more challenging.

If you want turbo, Mounty03 is your man. If you want a supercharger, Awdrocks and Rocket5979 would be the ones to talk too.

Stock 4.6 motors are good to about 400hp before you start breaking things. A good tune will help hold it together. Hope this helps a little.
