Explorer EV Coming

Yep, e-vehicles are about to cause a world of problems. The electrical grid is set up for current capacity, and the government is already starting to require electric appliances in new developments vs natural gas. When people start plugging e-cars in at home, someone's going to have to pay for new power plants, new transmission lines, and upgrading all residential neighborhood wiring. I'm "all in" for e-cars, they remove exhaust soot from the environment, but the infrastructure changes are daunting.
The big lie is that the push toward "green energy" is for the environment. Touting the death of us all due to global warming is another scam being used to ultimately control the masses. Ever wonder why CO2 is the "villain" gas they key on? It is the one that they can tie back to fossil fuels since it is produced from combustion. Gasses like water vapor, methane etc. that have a far bigger impact on climate are not ones that promote their agenda. The people trying to grab this control have been using fear mongering for the past 70 years, or longer, to achieve their goal. By their account we should all be dead every ten years but it never seems to happen. Even practicing the least amount of critical thinking will show they have been lying to us for decades in the hope of gaining more and more control of the masses. We are being herded like cattle to their end goal.

Sorry guys watching this with interest.

I'm late for the party.

My prime income is oil and gas...

I have not read the whole string yet.

As for global warming? Who was around 1\2 a million years ago to see and record what was going on?

Plus, you can produce electricity much cleaner than a gas car can be. Nuclear would be viable if we ever kept up with anything. Most of our nuclear plants are running on 70s tech. The controls systems in place in most of them are bananas.
Agreed..

Cooper was a main supplier for the back up generators in Nukes.

Problem is the NRC.

Can't change anything unless it's tested and proven and you have a documented procedure.

Nuclear power is a good thing too bad the byproduct can kill folks for a long time...

IMO petroleum is renewed by the planet and not a finite source of energy. It's not a "fossil" fuel.
As far as "clean" energy I am very pro nuclear. Apart from hydro it's as clean as it gets and can generate an infinite amount of electricity.
One of my old customers, Home Depot, has been converting the batteries that power their forklifts at the DC's to hydrogen generators.
And man made climate change is junk science.
I agree that "fossil fuel" is a weird way to describe carbon-based sources of energy. The more accurate way to refer to these substances is "organic fuel."

Climate change is real, constant, forever, and has nothing to do with humans. Human caused climate change is not reality, it's stupid, and there is no proof of any change caused by humans. Given that there is no substantial evidence of actual climate conditions prior to the 20th century, it's impossible for those that believe it, to prove it. Today's records of temp, humidity, etc, weather patterns, in all major cities and countries of the world, do not exist from the 1800's , let alone before, or 1000 years ago etc. Back in just the 1800's, only rare individuals were collecting temperature data etc, in their personal locations.

There were no organizations to collect the kind of full data which is being done today, which some use to blame us humans for any change of the weather. All of their historical data is based on guesses, scientific models from looking at fossils etc, not actual data points. That's the same source that was used to predict the Covid 19 pandemic, models, which by definition are scientific guesses. They were all wrong last year, and so are all of the Global Warming nuts, their guesses are all wrong, their conclusions are unprovable. But they continue to push it, and it's not for the benefit of the people, it's for their elitist purposes, power and wealth etc.

According to the experts(a person in Congress called that?), we will all die in about ten years(oceans will drown us by then). We should enjoy the benefits of the resources we have, ignore the idiot leaders, and work ourselves to find better energy solutions. We would solve them without mandates or banning products or industries, but the leaders won't allow us to handle it without their "help."
check out realclimatescience.com. tony heller does a great job researching claims by agw religionists annd the ny times reports he proves the times falsafying climate temp claims by using its own archive. and as far as co2 humans are responsable for 13% nature the rest. but its hard to find that chart the one that showes online only showes the pie chart by the industries and factors but not natures thats a seperate pie chart well hidden. as for electric cars and trucks theres no way the power can be replaced with out either fossell or nuke. but thorium is the most promising since it reuses spent fuel from other sources and is a safe and viable use of waist from all other nuke methods.
cal have found the problem with solar peak solar is mid day peak use is 5 to 8 pm and thats also whenn home charged cars plug in so not enough at night and mid day cal has to pay out of state utilities to take there midday excess

The only answer is to find other sources of electricity which don't exist now, or continue using fossil fuels until something does. The biggest problem is that government is stupid, they are going to abuse their power and tax us to death, for their own purposes(not to our benefit).

IMO petroleum is renewed by the planet and not a finite source of energy. It's not a "fossil" fuel.

The key to sustaining the human population long term is energy efficiency (not necessarily current renewable energy) and less population.
I am with you Don, dejen3303, and 94Eddie.
Just wish we could stop saying fossil fuel, cause does anybody really believe we are pumping a derivative of Dino?
And yes, we will not survive w/o depopulation being one of the solutions.

I believe the best answers to support(help, not solve) most of these issues is a far better battery and solar panel technology. If those can somehow improve by a factor of 3-5 times, that would go a long way to making electricity available from something besides coal etc. We have enough coal and natural gas to easily last 40-50+ years right now, in this country. I would like to believe that we could learn a lot in that time, improving solar power dramatically. That would be a great step, not a perfect answer, and it's a reasonable time period. Banning ICE vehicles in the next 5-10 years is stupid, it's political.

IMO, solar is DOA as a major solution until a massive advance in battery and solar panel technology is seen. I think taking advantage of tidal energy is way underutilized. It is consistent, dependable and always "on." Another source is wave energy although it is somewhat less dependable. Micro hydro generation is another one to pursue. Geothermal is another route but I think that could be a very dangerous path to follow over time. I can see us relying on it to the extent we could screw with the dynamics of the Earth's internal functions. It would be a bad day if in a few thousand years down the road we sucked enough heat from portions of the Earth's mantle to negatively effect the magnetic field it produces or some other function like volcanic activity. Then we are really screwed along with the rest of living things on the surface.

The good news is that we are reaching peak population much faster than was anticipated. China has developed enough to where they are close to zero population growth. Most developed nations are in a negative growth state without immigration being considered. Increasing the standard of living across the planet is what will ultimately save us, IMO. Once India and Africa develop more we will enter negative population growth globally which will be our saving grace into the future. We just need to make it to the point where technology advances so fusion, thorium etc. becomes viable energy sources. Heck, if aliens are traveling vast distances in the blink of an eye then there are energy sources out there that would easily supply our energy needs with massive quantities to spare. I think humans are entering a very dangerous period where our advancements in technology could be our end or our salvation. Which path we go down is a 50/50 proposition at this point.

That's a mixture of reality and fantasy, both in theory and what's actually happening. The possibilities are all great, but the reality of today is all of the negative things. We are just starting to see the beginning of a much lower standard of living, socialism will destroy us faster than any natural disaster or environmental issues, or aliens. Forcing the destruction of our precious energy industry, spending trillions on social justice(because they can now, and they have no way to pay for it), that is going to be miserable for every normal person(not the elite's who can afford to not be part of their solutions).

The biggest problem right now is the government, not any of the issues discussed here or on social media, the news etc. Nothing is as bad as socialism, which has caused the deaths of more people than everything else in total, ever.

Malaria has killed more people than socialism, without a doubt.

Just a reminder that this thread is on the Explorer EV.

That topic went away a long time ago. Best bet, lock and delete this thread now before it becomes too political and offends too many. Posting about EV's usually ends up becoming political and can be a touchy subject for many.

I love threads like this but I can see your points
No point in bidding us against each other

Its pointless

I'm with ya, but eventually people start to disagree and then start to hurl insults when they feel they are losing the argument. Then people start to get butt hurt. We don't need that and don't want that. If you can't have a civil discussion about the original topic and not go down the rabbit hole again, then don't post in this thread. End of rant.

I agree, if we cannot debate civilly with one another, we should censor the discussion completely. This isn't America any longer.

Some of my best friends through my life have had political views 180 degrees opposite from me. It never effected our friendship or respect for each other. It is possible to disagree and live together. Over the years, I have seen some knock down, drag out fights with insults flying in the forums here over numerous non political topics. 😉

You can debate all you want. It happens all the time on the forum. Just try to keep it on topic and civil.

I agree, and the real core issue underlying this EV subject is political, it is driven by socialism. No one should ignore that fact, while debating whether the new Lightning F150 is a great electric truck. I already stated I would probably like it very much. We are going to have electric vehicles shoved down our throats no matter what anyone says, and that's the result of the politicians, not the real demand.

I am civil, I haven't spewed vile names etc, this is nothing like the protests happening all over the country, or on twitter etc. I try to push facts and general over all perspective, not narrow minded views. I want everyone to have their freedoms to do and say what they want to, or buy what they want to. I will unfollow this thread, I have said all that needs to be said from me. Take care.

When it comes to topics driven by environmental issues like electric vehicles etc., it is very difficult to not discuss the political aspects associated with the subject at hand. Personally, I would rather see threads moved, or copied, to the appropriate forum when they morph toward debate that might not be completely inline with the original topic. IMO, this might better than deleting posts and/or locking down a highly active thread. Just some food for thought.
