Hi Guys
My First post.:)

I currently reside in Korea.:usa:
So not many Fords or acc/parts.:(

'13 Explorer's, which I just bought, headlights are really dim.
I try to not complain.
Tried hefty PIAA halogen.

So searched some HID here.
Got some ideas.
But it seems foolish to spend couple of hundred bucks for just brigther light.
Especially a car just purchased.

So did some googling.
Seem these are least expensive.

I know u guy don't recommend 55w, and it probably need a time relay.
But is it really bad choice?

If so........could u guys recommend some lower budget alternative??

Dame I should have bought the HID model.
Who knew.

Well is it a brightness issue or is it because of the cutoff? Maybe your lights are aimed really low? Knowing Korea, it should be really bright at night so you might not need to spend all that money like you said. Maybe your headlights are aimed too low like mine were and I just adjusted it a bit higher with no one flashing me back so it must be that my head lights were too low. You can adjust the headlights and see if that will help. Don't adjust them too high though.

If that doesn't help then yeah, switch them out for some HIDs. I know 35W HIDs are pretty much enough and I believe the factory HID is 35W on the Explorer but that's my guess. The HID mod would look cooler though. So you choose. I hope my post helped. :)

Welcome to the Forum leon16.:wavey:
The Owner's Guide shows you how the lights should look if aimed properly.
I have a 2011 Limited with HID and as I have mentioned in previous posts, I was very disappointed in their light output compared to the Philips X-treme Power bulbs (halogen) that I had put in my '09 Toyota Highlander. Other members have said that the HID's on the 2013 model have been improved.
Perhaps it is that very sharp cut-off that makes them look dimmer. Make sure that they are aimed correctly before spending any more $$$.
If going to HID, I recommend staying with the 4300k to 6000k. Anything higher will look too blue and reduce light output. The 4300k are the closest to actual daylight.
Good luck.

$150 for quality HIDs on a $35-45k explorer? Small price to pay for a drastically improved light quality!

1995E
I had a dealer try that already.
He said it was ''NORMAL''
Mybe I'll try another dealer.
TX.

Harley#356
I have a Yamaha Warrior too.
For over 40k, I expected at least decent light.:)
Otherwise, great car..!!
