Explorer Ranger long block compatibility

Good afternoon friends! Got a problem with my 2006 explorer 4.0 2wd jumping time(I believe). I have a concern before making a decision what I should do.?
Does anyone know if the 07-11 ford ranger long block is the same long block in my explorer with just different accessory configurations and what not? I have the 8th digit E vin#
Please help
Apparently the part #s are the same but the heads on the explorer have oil spray bars and the ranger doesn't

The reason I would like to know if the ranger long block would work is because I can get one with 10,000 miles on it for $500 as opposed to $1800 for a used explorer engine with 100,000 miles on it.
