..I had the chance today to visit with Big Time Ford Enthusiast and Racing Legend, Perry Mcneil..:salute:

..In 2008 he, his wife, and a couple others were in a serious crash in a newly built Sport Trac while prerunning the 1000...Today I got to see the pictures of the wrecked vehicle, where it happened, the hospital pics, and Perry told me the story, and it is truly amazing they survived let alone recovered to keep on racing as they do..:burnout:

..I wasn't there long before I mentioned EF and right off the bat he starts talking about his boy's heading out to Truckhaven and another trip with EF and how they are doing today so we settled in and got to do a bit of good ol talking in between our phones ringing and us screening our calls on a busy work day so we could continue to chat...

I hope you Enjoy..

..These questions are often asked here on the Forum...

Can I get fiberglass for my Ranger, Explorer, Sport Trac?
Who builds bumpers and roll cages for our trucks?
Does anybody race Sport Tracs, Explorers, or Rangers anymore?
Is the TTB any good offroad?

..Perry Mcneil can simply answer all those questions for you as he has been producing, racing and winning with these vehicles for years and still is winning the races to this day..

..In fact when asked about what race kits he's building now he said, "There's a lot of guys out there building "A" arm kits. I build "I" beam kits and they are proven winners and you can beat the snot out of them and they can take it".

..Did you ever wonder whose yellow Explorer was the banner for the "Whoops" section here?..It is one of the famous yellow Explorers from Mcneil Racing..;) ..(there used to be a video of it somewhere  )

..Well, they are now on about number 20 of the famous yellow Explorers according to Perry..These pics are of the latest one as it just came back from a Tuff Truck competition..(plus an optional sub box of course..:) )

Here are a few pics I snapped and the rest of the good pics can be found here..

..And for those who are into videos, here's a couple for ya I pulled off the net..

..This is an older video but at about 3:10 of this one it scrolls thru a list of some of Perry's accomplishments..well worth the read..:salute:

..And this one is from a tuff trucks competition with him out playing with the kids...See how many different RBV's you can find driven by each different Mcneil..:D

...So if anyone out there is still wondering if someone is still building stuff for the RBV's, they truly are...

..I hope you enjoy this and I'll try to get some more "ExplorerFoum Visits" together in the future..

..Oh yea...Did I mention their new Explorer/Raptor front end? You got to check it out..;)

Perry and his family are good people for sure. Justin moved to AZ a few years back. I've only seen him once or twice since. It was Justin who was driving the truck in the "Whoops" banner photo.

I have been to that house before. I picked up fenders and took them to moab for another member. I think it was heath of i remember right. Seemed like a nice guy when i talked to him then.

Did you tell him come join us at T-haven:D

Perry rebuilt my Ranger after I rolled and crushed the cab the first time. Grafted a new roof section on from mid A-pillar to just under the seats. Thanks Perry, great job! :rangertan:

Did you tell him come join us at T-haven:D

..You know I did...:biggthump

..Right after he asked me to come out and take a ride with him..:D

..I'm going to see him again before TH and I'll ask him again as a reminder..but I got to tell you... getting him to TH will take some doing..This guy has several irons in the fire and he's stirring the pot..

..We chatted for an hour or two and we never got a chance to sit for a minute...

..In 2008 he, his wife, and a couple others were in a serious crash in a newly built Sport Trac while prerunning the 1000

I think that Sport Trac is bad luck. I heard he crashed it last month during a race in Mexico when he hit a vehicle that shouldnt have been on the course. Did he mention anything about that?

...Yes he did..

..Someone in a little SUV pulled onto the track and as he was about to launch on the last jump (about 7th time in this race) he spotted the vehicle and it was already to late..It was clear to all and the investigators it was the suv drivers fault for driving on to the race course..

..He said the driver froze, (probably because of the crowd screaming at him) and the truck went thru it like butter.. but eventually lost control..I believe there was only one fatality, a photographer who was still filming when he was hit..

..He mentioned it was like breaking the balls when shooting pool...The energy dispersed out into the other vehicles and into the spectator section...It was truly terrible...

..Now this is the kind of guy he is...

..He reached out and met with the injured parties families asap, met with them in person, and shared with them his deepest regrets on how this tragedy affected them and how it truly affected him too..

Definitely not a "I'm a Superstar" kind of guy...:salute:
