OK I used this area to hide my amp but it could be used to store just about anything. In the back when you open the hatch on the right side there's a little storage spot that has a net. If you remove the trim that panel will just come right out exposing a larger area behind it.(most of the clips on the trim will probably break when its removed). You can then create a panel out of plexy glass to cover the hole by using the old panel as a guide. Then you can either just screw it into place and replace the trim or you could put a hinge and a latch on it to get to tools or whatever. There you go, extra storage space on a 1st Gen. Hope all of you enjoyed this little mod. :D

...Any pics of what you did with your storage space????

I have bad service with my cell phone here so I cant send the pics yet sorry

remember the good old days when cameras where used to take pictures?

there's a company (forgot which) that makes a 10" sub with trim that will fit in that specific space... I'll google around for it.

O cool. Hey the more speakers the better.

o I'd rather make my own and save the money than buy one if they're that much.

befor i rip apart my rig can y ou get some pis of how this all came out?

I wont have the pics until tomorrow but when you take off the trim there are 9 plastic clips holding it in. 3 on top, 2 on the right side, 1 on the bottom, 2 on that curve, and 1 on the left. I just slid a flat head screw driver in there and pryed them out. (but they broke) Then that panel will just come out. I traced that panel onto the plexy glass and cut it out, drilled 8 holes in the trim, plexy glass, and the interior were it will go. Then I just put in long skinny screws to hold everything in place ( I had to cut a little plastic off the back of the trim to get it to fit a little better)or you could put hinges and a latch on it if your going to want to get in there alot. If you have any questions just let me know.

O and when you take the panel out you will gain 3 1/2" in depth, 9" in width (there is more space but i just measured to the small computer over wheel well), and 3" in height.

i thought everyone knew about that spot! i popped it off when i was looking at the X to buy it in the past owners parking spot! found a old camera, some kind of a junction box for a antenea, and a few other loose ends. ive been shoving crap in it for storage since!

and i dont even need a screw driver, it pops off by hand for me.

ok sorry it took so long but here is what I did with the space

Will your amp be OK upside down??

its working fine so far I dont know why it could be bad for it

Cool! On my eddie bauer that space is already taken up by a factory sub, box, and amp.

yea I measured the hole and if I wanted to I could fit a 2 gallon gas can in there with little cutting I think

the best thing ford ever did in my opinion cargo wise was equip the older bronco IIs with 4 hinged doors below each of the rear side glass. my moms even had lockable knobs. now that i think of it, those are one more reason the B2 was awesome.

The fins on the amp need to go up to dissipate heat, if you put it upside down then the heat comes back to the amp, not good....
