Hi everyone, I know the f150 coil seats have been obsolete for a while now. I have a 94 explorer that I want to lift and have been looking for these seats/spacers. I went to the junkyard the other day and got them off a f250. Part number was F2TA-5A307-DA (4X2R) and the other side was F2TA-5B316-DA (4X2L). The number everyone says you use to be able to buy from ford was F2TZ5A307A and F2TZ5A307B.

When I measured the ones I got my 4x2R was 1.48 inches however my 4x2L was only 1.35 inches. My question is was the F2TZ5A307B which is the 4x2L part suppose to be shorter than the part F2TZ5A307A 4x2R? Does anyone have the F2TZ5A307A and F2TZ5A307B lying around they can measure for me? Thank you!

I have some on my BII not sure I can read the part numbers but I can measure the two sides see if they are different
Do you have pics of the parts you pulled?

Yea if you can use a caliper or something to measure the thickness that would be great. Yes here’s a pic of the coil seats I pulled off. One side is the 5a307 number but the shorter one has a number of 5b316. And I have checked 5 f150 yesterday and all of them have the same thing. Right side has the 5a307 number which is 1.48 inches but the left always have the 5b316 one which is shorter.

There may be some info here that might help you Ford Ranger/Bronco II 2.9 liter Engines
Huh, that’s weird. The link title changed when I posted this, but the link does go to a F150 coil spacer article on the ranger station. At least for me it does, somebody let me know if it doesn’t.

I went through that a few times already, they only reference the height of the older spacers/coil seats with part number that starts with a E, which means that part is from trucks from the 80s. I also read literally all the threads on here, rangerstation, and rangerforums. They don't say how tall each of the newer coil seats (F2TZ5A307A and F2TZ5A307B) are. I have the A version on hand to measure and got 1.48 inches. I just dont have the B version to measure to know how tall it is. I want to compare it to the F2TA-5B316-DA version since it seems like if you go to the junkyard these are what you will find instead of the B version on the left side of these OBS F-series. F2TA-5B316-DA measures to be 1.35 inches tall. So the scenario is either the left side for these coil springs are shorter than the right side OR Ford made new service part for the left side and the new part is taller than the Factory part.

If anyone has a set of these coil seats with the stated A and B version please measure how tall they are. That would be super helpful! Thank you!

Edit: wrong apparently there are short ones and tall ones, I must have the tall ones
I have never seen the 3/4" tall parts

are these the short ones you speak of:
factory_spacer-3.JPG

Those have no "spike",
the part that locates them in the correct spot on the beam for correct orientation with the springs

The ones we have always used pictured here:
ford_factory_coil_spacer-1.jpg

ford_factory_coil_spacer-3.jpg

have the spike and are taller then 1", they have the spike to hold them in the correct spot.
They also appear to be slightly taller on one side then the other, they do not sit flat on a table like the ones pictured above

The point that jumped out at me in the link is that they show the spacers as coming from the factory being different heights left and right, and that seemed to be your main question.

“E8TA-5A307-BA (passenger side) and E8TA-5B316-BA (driver side) have been found to be spacers used in the 1990's Ford 4x4's.
The E8TA-5A307-BA is 1-1/8" tall, and the E8TA-5B316-BA is 3/4" tall. These spacers were said to be found in a 1991 Ford F-150 4x4 with a 6-cylinder engine.”

My question is was the F2TZ5A307B which is the 4x2L part suppose to be shorter than the part F2TZ5A307A 4x2R?

410Fortune, no those arent the shorter ones I am talking about. I am talking about part number F2TA-5B316-DA. This part number is a factory installed part that came on the truck originally. From all the Junkyards I have been to so far (5), all the coil seats from 92-96/97 F series truck on the LEFT SIDE is this part number and not the part number F2TZ5A307B.

F2TA-5B316-DA looks EXACTLY like the F2TZ5A307B EXCEPT when I measure it, it comes out with a height of 1.35 inches.

Because I don't have F2TZ5A307B and since I can't find it in the junkyard and ford no longer sells it, I am not sure if F2TZ5A307B is also shorter and the same height as F2TA-5B316-DA. I need you guys' help in figuring out what the height of F2TZ5A307B is, so I can compare the two heights of these two parts. This is because everyone in the write ups talk about the 80's coil seat being different heights but they never bring up whether or not this trend was continued in the 90's coil seats. And whether or not there is suppose to be difference in height between the Left and Right side coil seat.

The Main Question is was F2TZ5A307A and F2TZ5A307B different heights? I don't want to keep going to the junkyard and tearing these OBS apart to only find part number 5B316 on all the Left sides. Thank you!

If anyone has F2TZ5A307B laying around please let me know. I would love the measurement of its height and maybe even buy it off you.

410Fortune, if you look at the first pic I posted. The shorter one I am talking about (F2TA-5B316-DA) is the one on the right. It has the spike and everything, from what I studied on the forums, it looks exactly like F2TZ5A307B.

Mine are both similar in height I can try to dig up the part numbers I used
What are you trying to accomplish? If you just want to add a little lift to your coils or level the truck, then as long as you have two spacers and they are similar in height go for it. I have used stacked washers welded together, I have used radius arm cups welded together under the coil, there are other ways to shim up the coil to get the same result!

Simply pick two that are the same height you want, even if you have to pull them off different trucks and go with them.

410 Fortune I am lifting my explorer, thats why i want to get the right part. I dont want to install the shorter one and when everything is back together there turns out to be a lean to it. Thats why I want to compare the F2TZ-5A307B and F2TA-5B316-DA parts.

BKennedy, they are offset with a tab on it. I know you can cut off the tabs and use two from one side on both corners but I read a thread here saying that without those tabs the nut can work itself loose from the coil seat spinning around. That idea is backup as of right now until I figure out whether or not B series coil seats and the DA series coil seats are different or not.

This question has been asked before but no one ever answered it. Im hoping it can be answered soon so I would know the answer and anyone else lifting their truck in the future will know what parts to get in the junkyard.

F150 coil seats wrong parts #s

When I used them on my old front suspension set up, they had the same part number on both. The tabs work on both sides. I don't remember the part number, but they were about 1.5" tall. If you use the same height spacer on both sides it will be even, as long as your Explorer sits even now side to side. You are overthinking this. The bolt loosened up eventually on one side even with the tabs and I tacked welded them in place.

Were they the same part number with the A and B differentiating them? The thing is the spacers arent the same size from the ones I got from the junkyard. the 4x2R is taller than the 4x2L. Every single F150 I have torn apart is the same thing, the right side is taller than the left side. I want to see if you guys have encountered this with the parts you bought at the dealership. The parts from the junkyard are all factory parts and not service parts. I want to see if the factory part (which is part number f2ta-5b316-da) is the same as the service part (f2tz-5a307-b).

I wish I could answer that for you but it appears that info is not easy to find

Same part number. Maybe they were both right sides, maybe they were off a different Ford truck. I got them out of a bin at a 4x4 shop. I can't answer your question, sorry.

Don't they flop Left to Right when going to an F150 to a ttb explorer/ ranger? That would put the slightly higher one on the drivers side.

Yes they have to be flip flopped on the explorer UNLESS you cut the tabs off. I went to SOLO MOTORSPORT and they have a bunch of different types but none of them for the 5A307B one. Were the the same part number until the last letter? Or you didn’t pay much attention to it?

and already measured the height of the left and right beams?
Maybe that is the difference; At first glance it seems that the driver's beam is higher than the right side.
