Just got a full size 8.8 for my exploder project and was wundering if rear springs off a 99 f250 7.3 ext cab could work with it. I know their load is much more then a 98 xlt but getting them practically free and be a shame to waste. Any suggestions

FWIW - spring rate decisions are not really dependent on the axle but the vehicle weight. If this is for off-road, then it would probably not perform as well as the stock spring since it would probably be too stiff (as stated) and also therefore not flex as easily (it would be like having a super stiff torsion bar which is no good for off-road). So it's not so much that they can't work because you can always weld on new hangers, shackles and perches - but rather, the problem is that it is conceptually inadequate for the vehicle and the vehicle's purpose.

That's what I was needing to hear. Thanks IZwack for the input

wtf haha
