hi, I have a '96 xlt. (TC: f57a-7a195-ca) couple of weeks ago the TC died on us. today I found a great deal at a junkyard couple of hours from here, the tag reads f77a-7a195-ga. only perceivable difference is that the GA model has a flange for the front output, while our busted CA has a yoke.

Do both TCs work the same? And could I just transplant the yoke from the old TC to the new TC directly?

Sorry if these questions are answered on other threads, all help is appreciated

The F77 TC is a 97 (or at least first introduced in 97, your F57 was first introduced in 95 and continued in 96). The 97+ TC use a CV joint instead of the U-joint output for the 95/96 TC.

Internally, both TC should be the same, you need to look at the 97 case to make sure it has a VSS (vehicle speed sensor) on the case to match your 96. The 97 had it, 98+ removed it and combined the VSS and Rear Anti Lock sensor on the rear differential.

I do not know whether the yoke will bolt directly on or not.

thanks for the help, I'll go hunting for that Front drive shaft.

quick question:
are the CV-joint front drive shaft(f77) and the yoke front shaft (f57) the same lenght?
