Factory Amp Bypass

Hi folks... A while ago I saw a post illustrating how to manually bypass the factory amp on the '97 Explorer XLT. Of course I didn't print it at the time. Now I am ready to do it. Does anyone have the color codes. I know I can buy a kit. But I am old school. I still use a scope and soldering iron

Scope and a soldering iron is the only way (there's another way????)

If it wasn't night, i'd go out and get the wire colors, but it is in the passenger kick panel. too dark to see out there though

Thanks for the response. I should have wrote it down when it was posted. That stuff is so invaluable! I purchased a Pioneer Ford Dash HU, (4) 6x8 door speakers, cargo panel sub 500w sub woofer. But I screwed up. I only purchased a 300 watt amp to push the sub... MISTAKE!!! I didn't want to be too loud & obnoxious. Yet in that, I can't hear the sub at all. So I will be purchasing atleast a 600w max amp.

Oh the reason for the bypass... The 120w factory amp distorts at higher db's. The Pioneer HU pushes more... 200w/4. I am gaining too much distortion at the gate with the factory amp in the way.
