I read through this post but as it deals with the 2000 year X, I'm not sure that the info. is correct for a 1991 EB 'Audiophile' system.
How to wire to use the factory sub-w amp on a 2000 model year: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154055
I'm installing a nice Kenwood from another car into my 1991 EB with the audiophile system. I plan to buy a wiring adapter from Car Toys so I don't have to cut into the 1991 wire harness but I'm not sure if the Car Toys adapter lets me use the factory sub W amp or not. Does anyone know if an adapter exists to let me keep the factory sub-W amp? Do I need to buy this do-dad from Crutchfield to use the factory sub-w amp?

Even if I can use the factory subwoofer, should I? The kenwood I am installing has a large amp and several controls to separately manage the subwoofer. That said, I'm inclined to use the factory sub-W amp.
