Fake engine noises over speakers

Funny thing is, unless I'd read the comments here, I'd never think fake engine sound would be something car makers would seriously consider putting in their vehicles! Makes me think I'm reading "The Onion"!!! I'd rather hear the radio, and the REAL engine sounds just to check up on whether they've changed or everything still OK. It really is funny!
I think almost every vehicle manufacturer has used this by now, its extremely common. Our 2013 Fusion had it, engine sounded like a growling V8 inside, but a typical turbo 4 outside. I also believe our 2020 explorer xlt does it, there is no way a 4 banger sounds like that. Also when you floor it, in any mode but more in sport, the rear fan turns up, giving a whooshing sound as you accelerate

Also funny - I can imagine putting the 'growling V8" sound on the OUTSIDE - to fool or confuse other drivers! I miss that sound, myself! But not the RWD my old V8s had. (Was good for doing donuts, though!)

Will keep your info in mind, if I ever shop for a car from say, 2010 or newer!

My understanding is that the ST models have the fake engine sounds playing over the speakers, and this feature is allegedly not on other models. I, however am starting to ponder if my 4 cylinder Timberline is playing engine sounds.

My explorer sounds like a v8 when accelerating and I have never heard a 4 cyclinder sound this robust. In addition, full throttle acceleration sounds incredibly loud, and I'm not just referring to the higher revving of the 4 cylinder ecoboost.

I'm wondering if I can pull a fuse to the speakers and see it sounds different.
Yeah but that would come from throughout the cabin, this is more noticeable on passenger side in front

Also more noticeable starting off an changing thru the gears also. Highway speed or cruising you don’t notice it

See my reply to your post in the thread you created. Unfortunately, it's normal.

That’s really a shame. Had a 14 no noise at all. You would think a platinum would be top of the line. Going to drive a Lincoln next and see if it does it.

What was your 2014 and which engine did it have? My previous one was a 2017 Platinum and it didn't have this noise, but then it also didn't have the same 3.0L engine with 400 HP.

I am considerably late to this party. Given the wide range of applications for Synthetic Engine Sound, does anyone know if there are distinct sound profiles for the Mustang (EcoStang), 2.3L Explorers, 3.0L Explorers, etc.?

If so, is it possible to replace an explorer sound profile with a mustang (for shenanigans)?
