Build Dates : MAR 09, 2003 - MAR 15, 2003

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 03T002000

Component: TIRES:TREAD/BELT

Potential Number Of Units Affected : 42

Summary: LT235/75R15 STEELTEX RADIAL A/T TIRES WITH DOT TIRE SERIAL W1HKRAD1003. DUE TO AN INSUFFICIENT CURE IN THE TREAD SHOULDER AREA, THE TIRE MAY DEVELOP IRREGULAR WEAR, NOISE, OR VIBRATIONS AND WITH EXTENDED USE, THE TIRES WITH THIS CONDITION MAY EXPERIENCE A TREAD SEPARATION.

Consequence: TREAD SEPARATION OF THE TIRE CAN POSSIBLY LEAD TO A VEHICLE CRASH, RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.

Remedy: BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE HAS ADVISED NHTSA THAT ALL OF THE SUBJECT TIRES HAVE ALREADY BEEN REMOVED FROM THE FIELD.

Well at least they caught it in time this time around.

Wow, How do they expect to stay in business if they keep making crapy tires! (side note, I never had any problems with all the Firestones I have ever had.)

THATS ONLY 42 TIRES.... WE SELL MORE TIRES THAN THAT AT WORK IN MY STORE A DAY... THAT IS ALMOST NOTHING..... AND PER MILLION TIRES OR WHATEVER, FIRESTONE/BRIDGESTONE IS STILL ON PAR AS THE REST OF THE TIRE MANUFACTURERS FOR DEFECTS

42 suspected tires is very, very small. however, and undercure in the shoulder area can and will mean an instant blowout. it appears they arent cooking them long enough to cut costs/cure time. at least its better than letting abunch of scabs with no training start building tires on their first day.

It can be taken as a being non-important since they only have admitted to 42 tires being faulty, however how long did it take them to step up and claim resposibility for the faulty wilderness tires????
