Fixing 3rd brake light

OK OK. I tinted my tail lights ( looks good). then tried to tint my 3rd brake light... Lets see, it got messed up when a paper towel drifted on it. I tried to wipe it off really fast but it was already half dried so it just made it look worse. Then i got some acetone and worked it off. I guess acetone is like gasoline in how it doesn't work good with plastic? (i didn't know...) and now my plastic is all hazy and has cracks on this top layer of "hazy" plastic. I tried getting it wet and sanding it with 100 sand paper... but after about 5 min i was just afraid i'd mess it up more. So i figured it'd be best to ask some pros what might fix my screw up ?

:(

Honestly, I would throw that one in the trash and seek out a junkyard and get youself a different one. You might be able to sand it down to good plastic, then try putting some clear coat on it, that might work...

you can't take out the old one... costs $300 on 95+ models or drilling out rivets...
