Are you still flying a flag on your X?

no...although i will as soon as i find a more durable flag and get my truck running.... those walmart flags only lasted for a week before they started to unravel.... when i fix my truck i am getting fdny in memory stickers, california state firefighters association sticker, fd trailer hitch cover and a star of life sticker...and a tough flag that will fly from my cb antenna 10 feet above the ground

I don't have a flag, but I have a sticker saying - "We Will Remember, 9-11-01"

I've thought about taking it off and putting a flag but there's no good place to mount one...we'll see I suppose.

I want to thank everyone who is "Flying the Flag" by driving an American Made and Owned automobile! I think that everyone who does is Flying their Flag everyday!

Dead Link Removed I love the USADead Link Removed

The flag I had doesn't hold real well on my vehicle. Maybe I'll get some sort of 9-11 remeberance sticker, that would be nice and would last longer

I'm a little disapointed with the people in my area. I seem to be one of the few that still have a US Flag (sticker) on their truck/auto. After the tradgedy, everyone was proudly flying them and now it seems passe.

The same thing happens when the Lakers win the championship. Flags everywhere then a few weeks later they're all gone except for the true die hards.
Shouldn't we be true die hards for the US? I think so.

On the other hand, it's dissapointing to see a huge, dirty, & tattered Flag flying in a bed of a pickup truck. The Flag should be retired and replaced. I can understand if your Flag has deteriorated like jimabena's and have removed it of course, but people were standing in lines months ago when 9/11 happend and now I would imagine that some people are saying that they don't have time to get one. The Flags are everywhere now and even cheaper.

I say lets put them back up! For those who still have them, rock on!

My $.02.

Flag sticker is on the truck permanently..... as the flag at my house...... it's been there since the 9/11 and it's not going down........ it might be replaced but will never go down!!

dre...stickers cant be permanent.... replace it if it looks screwy though.... i have seen a lot of cars around here that still have them even though they are tattered half pink and purple flags..... it is more tasteful to remove those and not have any than to have one that looks like you stole it from a trashcan

mine is still as good as new...and it's just the flag.... no letters, no messages - that's not important...... but I do have a few to replace it with if it comes down to that.

I use my wife's grandfather as an exapmle. He flew a bomber in WWII over Italy and Germany. He's been flying his flag every day since he got back in 1945. In the morning he hobbles out (he's got a bad hip) and raises his flag, and every night he takes it down. He's a patriot. He's an American. So I'll fly a flag on my ar. When the one I have gets worn, it'll be retired and replaced with a new one. Then that one will be replaced, then that one, and so on. I wasn't born in this country, but I sure as hell am an American now, and I'll fly the flag to show it.

I have flown the Stars and Stripes all my life.. I have it on the X and I fly one at my home. God Bless the U.S.A. !!
Jim

Yes I do!
One on each side.... on lower corner of rear window..
each about 4"x6"....both Xs. I made a lot of them on the computer and gave them out to a whole bunch of people.

I taped em on the inside so they stay looking good... as they should. It went on two days after 9/11

and to think they are still cleaning up that mess at the WTC....talk about heros

God Bless America

I still have mine on my truck and will always be there as like at my house we have the flag flying and that won't ever stop either. :us:

It seams that only a week before the terrorist attacks many people were'nt too crazy about "America"

Just days before the attack I seen almost no patriotism! But soon as the attack happened, everyone was a "patriot".

When people ask me why I don't fly a flag I tell them this...
Everyday when I wake up and put on my uniform I am showing my partiotism. I do what I do so people can live and enjoy the freedom that our fathers gave them. I am willing to leave my own family and give my life for all Americans so they can partake in that freedom. So do I fly the flag? Everyday I go to work I fly it higher than anyother flag. I have sworn to protect it and all who are under it.

(Taken from "ETIQUETTE of the STARS and STRIPES" by Veterans Of Foreign Wars of the United States)
The Continental Congress of 1777 declared that the white stars in a field of blue shall represent a "new constellation". George Washington described the white in the Flag as symbolizing our desire for liberty - the land of the free. We say the red signifies the courage and sacrafices of the nation's defenders, and the blue has been linked to the loyalty and unity of our citizens.

So for those that I know that "Jumped on the Band Wagon"...root for the home team or get the hell out of the stadium!!

God Bless you all!

I salute you and all the other sons and daughters of America that keep us free. Thanks.

Doc

No! Thank you!!

You are the reason I do it. And the appreciation you just showed makes it all worthwhile!

"Returned Salute"

I have a lot of friends and family in the military. My wife's cousin just left for Afghanistan and my best friend went to Korea about two weeks ago. Other than that we have family all over the place in both Army and Navy (sorry, no Air Force, although her grandfather was Army Air Corp in WWII).

Besides my wife and I may become military also. We are checking our options right now. We'd both enter as Captains and my wife would be a Major within three years. But at the moment, it's only an idea. Nothing firm yet.

DocVijay:

Well I'm sure you will make the right decision and good luck to you, but on a lighter note :

That “Major stuff “ makes me hesitate for a moment... that could be a husband’s worst nightmare or a wife’s ticket to heaven. Does that mean you have to salute her and she can order you to take out the garbage?
......or is there a special provision in the Military Code of Conduct?

If not, the Foreign Legion might look more appealing and a whole less complicated.

That ‘s a bigger trap that “I DO”

So basically nothing would change.

Besides, I'd be a Captain, so I wouldn't be too far behind.

You probably right. I hear you...
I thought it could have some unique and interesting situations on a relationship given the miltitary. Maybe not. Myself, I would still keep that section about "unlawful" commands handy, just in case.

Good luck to you and yours.
