Fog light bulbs on 2002 X

Hey, I have a 2002 XLT and have Sylvania Silverstar headlight bulbs. My new X has foglights already equipped on it but I would like to get some that match my headlights. Does anyone know what sizes will fit. I know it lists it in the manual but sometimes multiple bulbs will fit. Can anyone help?

What does the manual say? Then I can help you figure out what fits in standard sizes. My 2001 sport can use a 9005 or 9006 in the fog light housing.

Manual says 9145

i also have a '02 4 door ex, with silverstars, they are sweet!!

actually i just did this today and had a nice 3 hour drive tonight to see if it is a worthwhile mod.

it makes QUITE a difference!

buy some [more] silverstar 9005 [high beam-glass tip].

looking at the curved vinyl side, file [nail file worked fine]the lower right corner fitting piece-tip [on lower right side] down some.
you may need to file the left upper side of the top "black-tip"a little also.

this will make more sense when you remove the 9145 [btw-$ 15.00 at the dealer!] bulb and compare the "fittings" to the 9005.

go slow, be careful. i think i did both of them in 15 minutes.

hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice. I will have to try that. Just make sure I don't screw up, those bulbs aren't exactly cheap

try it on your "old" 9005's.

you did get the silverstars, right?

that's what i did

peter

Sounds like a great idea. Thanks. I will just need the time now I guess. Bound to have some free time on Sunday I guess

9005 silverstars now my fog lights

well i just swapped my original 9005 [high beams] out of my fog light sockets and installed silverstars.

i'm pretty stoked!

the standard 9005's make a huge difference.

these should really be a kick!

i can hardly wait for dark. the local advance auto has them on sale $21.98 each. that's still pricey but better than $25.00 each.

My 03 X supposedly uses an H1 bulb for the fogs. Will the same mod work for this setup?

john

if the '02's used a h1, that's what we would all be talking about...

it's just like posted here bro.

honest

i'd be VERY surprised if the sport 2 door was different, it is possible.

take one out, if the bulb assembly is 'silver' and not very long, it's a h1

sylvania

Enlighten me!!
What are these sylvania silverstar lights?

Also has anyone put in aftermarket driving lights
in the lower valance that has the removable
rectangles?

what are silverstars?? are you kidding??

seriously, use the search feature [at this site].

it is a quality bulb a LOT less than piaas.

go to the sylvania website.

i don't think there is a light that would really look good and fill those openings.

do you have an xlt without factory fogs?

peter

lights

sorry, I guess I'm just a dumba**.
And I have seen some Piaa lights in those openings
and they looked damn good. Piaa stuff
is just to damn expensive.

Thanks for the help I'll try to
find some sylvanias.

I know I'm a little late to this thread, but did you ever figure out what you could fit in your fogs? I have a 03 EB, love the silverstars on the low beams, wanna ad the fogs. I can't decide if I need a pair of 9005's to modify or if the H1 will fit.

jeeden

a 9005 can be used to replace the 9145.

i put in and later took out the silversrasfrom my fogs.

70 watts in a [barely] adequate wire for a 42.5 watt 9145 made me nervous.
i AM NOT going to muck around with anything overwattage in a ford.

if you can adapt or modify to a h1, that wouldn't be a bad idea.

i have some h1 osram silverstars [european one] +50 more light for sale.

$14.50 each, LOT less than $19.00 for the sylvania silverstars from a auto parts store.

let me know if you want some

at the sylvania website you can verify your lamp by using their lamp replacement guide. If you are unsure still, take a peak at your light and see if you can figure out what it looks like to compare it to products on their performanace shop. If you can actually take it out, here are some quick differences, H1 has a metal base and has only one contact point, H3 is small and has a pigtail wire connected to it, 9005 has a plastic right angle base. All very different.
