I have had a few FORDs in my 20+ years of driving.

My very first car was really a "BOAT" a 1967 1/2 Ford Galaxie 500. I once got pulled over with 14 people in it. :D We regularly took 10 people to NYC for weekend trips.

The EX seems to take the cake for hardiness. I'm proud of her and 231,300+ miles. (Increases everyday)

How many miles are on your EX? and I dont mean your EX wife. ;)

Also What Fords have you owned along the way? Dont work too hard, I know BRAIN CELLS are in short supply for some of us.

HAD (Wrecked or given way. STUUUUPID!)

1) 1967 1/2 Ford Galaxie 500 2 door ----------http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Galaxie
2) 1975 Ford Elite 2 door ---------------------http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Elite
3) 1983 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe 2 door -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Thunderbird
4) 1984 Mercury Cougar 2 door ---------------http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_Cougar

Still HAVE

5) 1989 Ford E 150 Work van -----------------http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_E-Series
6) 1994 Ford Mustang Convertible 2 door ------http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mustang
7) 1994 Explorer Eddie Bauer :) ---------------http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Explorer

The EX now has 239+K on the original engine and transmission and yes I tow a 19' ski boat with it.

Mods:

Tps mod
Throttle cable mod
K&n Air filter with Cold air intake Ver. 3.1 (Basically a 10"x6" Airscoop direct to filter box)

Removed: Bugshield, Roof rack

Added: Air/Fuel Gauge, Hi Performance 2nd Tranny cooler, 12 VDC Aux Cooler Fan, Water Wetter, Tranny coolant additive, ATF temp gauge, Synthetic Oil, 8mm plug wires, CAI Temp gauge, Mio 220 GPS, New head Unit with Aux input, XM Satelite radio, 7" Touchscreen for my laptop.

Still want: Livewire or programmable chip, Back up and DVR Cam system, Improved exhaust and Cats. 2nd battery with isolator switch.

Dream of: Solar panels, Lightweight small storage batteries or capacitors, Air scoops with turbines, 48 VDC or compressed air regenerative braking Motor/Generator to create a DIY Hybrid EX. :D

Thats all I can remember. Damn BRAIN CELLS!

Please Have each individual in your household register and post to the Explorer Forum seperately. Thanks

(If I added my wife and son to "MY" list, the list would go on and on)

:salute:

118,000 miles on the EX, 83K of which I put on

I also lost three to accidents, only one of which was my fault.

81 Mustang -- approaching 200 K
91 Escort -- about 135 K
01 Focus -- only 35 K

114K miles on the '97 Explorer.. I traded a '69 Datsun 510 and a '79 Thunderbird for a brand new lemon '96 Ranger, which I exchanged pretty much straight across with the dealer for the new '97 Ex after about 10 months of arguing with them. The Datsun had 253,000 miles on it and while it did limp, it made it to the dealer for the trade. The Thunderbird had around 90,000 VERY hard miles - they make pretty good 4-wheelers if you're careful... but the transmission is not protected from below... It was a good car... *sigh*

100303 miles on my 03... Pretty low. Im a 23 year old Ford fan... My father works for the govt and gets the car of his choice. in 00 he got a new 01 Taurus. He put around 150K miles on it until 04 when I took over the car. Getting a new car every 3 years he got this one for 4200 and some change. Not bad for a fully loaded 3 year old car. Now it has 204K miles on it and I havent replaced anything major. Timing belt, tranny, engine and even the spark plugs and wires are orig! Toyotas are cheap and poorly designed. Honda's may be built right, but they are over priced and over populated- I think thats the right word. People have it in their mind that Honda's are amazing and I cant wait to prove them wrong- but this time with my Explorer. ps- I drive like a jerk so its not just highway miles. My dad never changed his oil on time (until I took over) and that Taurus is in mint condition. Now my Explorer is going to set the next ground!

I can happly say that i have 324k on my explorer. I have however replaced the engine but i did that around 319k. It has been very good to me and it has went from stock to wild. Im never getting rid of it.

Nice! I hope to get 300+K too. If I dont total it first. 2 WRECKS and still going!

Very cool! Thank you for your post. I think my next car will be a truck. Another used Ex this time a 4x4! :D

My 99 Explorer has about 130,000 miles on it. It was my dad's car before I got it.

When my dad had the Explorer, I had his 1989 Ford Crown Victoria. I liked the car, but it was getting to the point where I was needing to do a lot of work to it. The big problem was I was going to school and work at the time so I didn't have the time or money to deal with it, plus I needed something reliable to go back and forth from school with. So, I don't have it any more.
If I did, though, I'd be doing a bit of work on it these days.

My '96 only has 95K on it...I bought it with 91K on it.

Had a 1985 Tbird (my 1st car)...wrecked it with about 100k on it, about 8 months after I got it, when someone ran a stop sign. Ran right into it driverside door, and totaled my car.

I bought mine used with 12,078 miles on it and now i got 69,115 miles on it and its an 01 sport

75 Grand Torino , 79 LTD , 92 Taurus and 166,000+ on the 92 X

207k on the 96, it did have a rebuilt tranny at 180k and rebuilt heads @ 110k

i had 110k on my 94, but its life was shortened due to me rolling it

Mine has 190k currently. Just replaced the tranny @ 187k. Also had a 1968 Mustang w/ 180k on it before the damned ball joints went out and it took a 'nose dive' and ripped out the suspension. 1992 Escort that I totalled (not to hard to do when you run into a F350). 1980 Mustang (POS) Totalled and rolled. 1982 Zepher (no reverse).

By far, the Exploder has been the best...

Only 56 on my 02 Moutaineer but the 96 explorer I had prior had 249 on the clock. I sold it to a friend of mine and wouldn't be suprised if it went well over 300. I had to put a trans in at 120 but other then that no major repairs. Mobile 1 ftw.

187 almost 188k on mine atm, got it at 170 sumtin, alternater replaced, brakes/calipers, and thats it so far, got some other minor problems. I'll either fix em or get a new car lol.

92 Expo 142k
93 Expo 175k Original tranny and engine
92 F150 5.8L 102k

Now I'm trying to get another expo, seeing how my dad is in the market for a winter vehicle. Just trying to keep it Ford... :D

I have just over 150,000 on mine it still runs great with normal maint. but it needed a new trans at 138 and now it needs C/Vs err.... well here she is

About to hit 150... my parents are the original owners. I will never part with it.
