Blue oval buys green oval! Ford just bought / is in the process of buying Land Rover. What is your opinion about this? Will this have an influence on the actual SUV programm of Ford?
Land Rover makes some of the very best 4x4. I'm specially thinking of the Defender 90/110/130. Some real no-nonsense worktrucks with two solid axles, coil springs, aluminum body and one of the most modern turbo diesel engines worldwide. (milage about 25 mls/gal.!!) It sells in Europe for about $ 25'000 - $35'000. Will Ford make them finally available in the U.S.? (badged with a blue-green oval Dead Link Removed )
Let me know what you think about it!

Greetings, and tread lightly

Once again my opinion of ford aquiring a great vehicle manufacturer like Land Rover is a bit skeptical. I like the fact that they bought Land Rover but like the Jag they will make a few changes(hopefully not on this one) and will probably be on the interior of the vehicle. Being how Land Rover is an awesome SUV I don't think they will mess with anything such as putting IFS or anything like that. With the Jag, ford made it way more dependable but they also made it cheaper on the inside, such as more plastic. I mean, a few minor tweaks to the interior isn't bad just leave it as the "tuff" no-nonsense SUV that it already is. All in all I'm glad we... I mean FORD got their hands on this instead of some other company. Dead Link Removed

I love my FORD. But when it came time for me to buy a new SUV I went straight to the land rover dealer. I had everything done. Lease approval, down payment everything except for signing on the dotted line. If it wasn’t for one last ditch effort from a FORD salesman I would not be at this sight right now. Since that glorious day I have loved my Sport ever since. I do believe that Land Rover makes a better stock off road vehicle. And as far as luxuries goes well you can’t beat the Brits. I think this is great news. But lets look at the track record. A few years ago BMW bought Land Rover for about 6.? Billion. Since then BMW has never turned a profit from the Land Rover division. In comes FORD. They purchase this flounder for half of what BMW paid. A messily 3.? Billion. Lets hope that this automotive giant and turn this company around. Else I see Land Rover disappearing into oblivion.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Where are we going???
And why are we in a hand basket???
