Afternoon all. Saw a thread or three about getting a Ford ESP and there was a discount for forum members here. Issue is those posts are a few years old at this point so does anyone know if that is still a thing? Mine expired some miles ago and I would love to get another one at the cost that was mentioned here.

Service guy at Ford I am cool with wanted to replace my water pump even though it's not leaking but he said since the warranty expired he couldn't do it. Would love to be able to get back on warranty so any info would be great.

Thanks

Send a Direct Message to member blwnsmoke to verify if Joel is still offering the ESPs. I have not heard that this is no longer in effect.

I believe what your mechanic suggested is not allowed. Warranty is for failed parts, not parts that might fail.

Now if there was a recall or even a TSB you might have better luck.

Also when I talked to the powers to be that are or were offering the ESP they told me that Ford would require a inspection of your Explorer before it would be even offered. So if you have a prior problem or if they see a problem that you are hoping to get covered you'll be out of luck.

If your car is not currently under warranty then Ford has a program that requires a dealer inspect it. If you buy it before your ESP expires there is no inspection required. It also starts on the day and milage when you buy it, and runs for the term and milage you decide you want.
As far as a water pump replacement before it leaks, if your dealer is going to do it go ahead. That means your dealer has a good service writer, which is what it takes to get Ford to pay .

30 day waiting period for used ESPs to kick in.

OP, your dealer is suggesting a fraudulent repair/warranty claim.

I don't believe that the 30 day statement is true. This is what my contract says:
"USED PLAN AGREEMENTS ON ELIGIBLE FORD, LINCOLN OR
MERCURY VEHICLES THAT HAVE NO NEW VEHICLE LIMITED
WARRANTY REMAINING AND ELIGIBLE USED COMPETITIVE MAKE
VEHICLES (REGARDLESS OF WARRANTY STATUS), Coverage BEGINS
at the Signature Date and Current Mileage. Coverage ENDS at the
earlier of the Number of Months Purchased or the Number of Miles
Purchased from the Signature Date and Current Mileage."

I can see the requirement for a 30 day waiting period, if that 's the case, in order to eliminate possible fraud should an owner's vehicle have an existing condition not picked up by the inspection.
