FORD SUPPORTS OPENING OF ETHANOL FUELING STATIONS

Ford Motor Company joins the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, Corn Marketing Program of Michigan, Detroit Area Clean Cities Coalition and Knight Enterprises to announce the introduction of ethanol (E85) fuel to two Citgo stations in Metro Detroit. The stations are located in Dearborn Heights and Southfield. Knight Enterprises plans to open additional E85 facilities in the next few months.

Representatives from the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, the Corn Marketing Program of Michigan, Detroit Area Clean Cities Coalition, Ford Motor Company and Knight Enterprises will be on hand supporting the introduction.

As fuel prices soar at the pumps, consumers are recognizing ethanol as a domestic fuel alternative that is less expensive than gasoline at fueling stations.

In 2006, Ford will offer new models with the flex fuel technology option. The new models include the Mercury Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town Car and the Ford F-150. Those vehicles will be displayed by Jack Demmer Lincoln Mercury and Pat Milliken Ford. The Crown Victoria will also offer the flex fuel option in 2006.

E85 is an alternative transportation fuel made from a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. The fuel can be used in FFVs.

ive seen quite a few crown vics. rangers, and taurus flex fuel vehicles in the past and also some that run on propane their is a procedure to purge the system befor switching from reg gas to ethanol if not done right can easily cause some damage to engine and fuel system. mostly these vehicles were owned by the city and government facilites but could be bought at gov auctions.
Nate

The oldest propane taurus that i saw was a 93 taurus with 2 very large propane tanks in the trunk ran very clean with propane when we replaced the head gaskets the internals of the engine looked practically un touched (new) because the propane burns so clean. same is true about the ethanol the usual carbon deposits are not present in these engines
