Front abs sensor replacement

I have a 2006 Ford Explorer Xlt 4x4 and I'm changing the front left abs sensor. When I removed the old one there was grease inside the hole the sensor came out of. Is this grease supposed to be there? If so, do I clean out the old grease and add new grease or just add new grease? If not, what would cause the grease to be there?

Just a little bit of grease so the sensor doesn’t corrode in there.

The front usually throws a abs sensor code when the bearing goes bad..
