Front Airbag sensors

My front airbag sensor on my 2004 Explorer is bad. I need to change it out since it fell apart. Can I drive the car without the sensor attached until I get a new one?
And I was also wondering ,for anyone who has changed this sensor, does the metal piece that is part of the sensor, that the bolt fits through , come off the bolt? mine is stuck on tight , and I cant get the bracket off that the whole thing sits on , so im thinking of grinding off ,or drilling the bolt stud out.

Since that's a safety issue no one can make that decision, but you. Obviously the airbag will not function in an accident with a broken sensor.

Sorry I don't have info about the bracket. Maybe someone else can help.

Just make sure you disconnect the battery first before tackling this job.
