Front diff seal leak..

While getting an oil change yesterday, the guy pointed out to me that the front end differential seal was leaking a little bit.. Is this something that needs to be taken care of asap? What could have caused this and what can it lead to?

depends how bad, make sure you check the levels in the front diff, and keep it full

My 04 Explorer, while under warranty, had both the front pinion seal and right front axle seal go out at different times. There is a TSB concerning the axle seal, can't remember the number, but it involves possibly replacing the axle housing assembly. I got lucky since no replacement was necessary. Numerous things can cause seals to leak including improper installation. And a good technician will check for the cause during the replacement process.
