front drive shaft vibration

I have a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer V8 AWD. I replaced the brakes and a bad drivers side hub assembly. I get a significant vibration and grinding noise when drive, feel it through the steering wheel and right below my feet.
I noticed some play in the front drive shaft CV (propeller) joint attached to the transfer case.
Do I need to replace the front shaft assembly or can I repair the U-joint and propeller joint?
I can't find the propeller joint replacement for this model year.
I would appreciate any recommendations.

it is most likely the universal joint on the front, I just did mine to fix the same problem. Real easy to change out just takes a torx 30 for the front and 8mm for the bolts on the rear and the drive line comes right out with a little persuasion.
