My 96 Explorer is higher in the front then in the back, what could be the reason for this, i was thinking that it could be the shocks, as the leaf springs are good, there is no lift kit installed on it so i 'm not sure what the problem could be besides the shocks, any help or suggestions would be apprciated, I also need to know what shocks to use if i replace them, I thought about putting air shocks on the back to raise it but they are usually bumpy, but i would like more of a smoother ride as i don't take it up to many mountains.....
Thanks !!
Mike

Odds are, your rear leaf packs have sagged over time, while your front suspension has stayed about the same.

Shocks aren't going to help this situation.

Couple of options, 1) replace the rear packs with new ones ($$$$), 2) install a single add-a-leaf kit in the rear packs to help bring the rear up 1"-1.5".

edit: sorry, just noticed that you have a Sport. Your model should have mono-leaf spring packs in the rear. These packs are notoriously weak, and my option above of adding an add-a-leaf won't work on them. Your best option is to replace the leaf packs in your truck, with a pair off of a 4-door model.

Yes, even the worn spring pack from a 4 door will improve your ride height. Check for a friend who has replaced theirs or survey the local boneyards.
