Went to do alignment on my 05 Mountaineer AWD and the shop told me I need to replace the front right and left lower ball joint and the CV boot is torn open. Can I change just the ball joint and CV boot? Thanks

Yes, finding the CV boot by itself may take some digging but it is out there.

Do we have how to instructions?

For the ball joints, yes. Its one of the sticky's. Don't know about the CV boot but I seem to remember something. Probably in a thread on replacing the CV joint.

The write up is for upper ball joint, i need the lower

Try typing " replace lower ball joint" into the search bar at the top of the forum and see what comes up.

Don't Cheat!

If it were me, after going to the hassle of freeing the lower ball joint from the knuckle to replace the BOOT, I would go ahead and replace the whole dang joint! Why mess around to that degree with an already worn ball joint?

Just my opinion. imp
