2016 Explorer Front Thump and Squeaks (Control Arm Bushing and Ball Joint Shot) 107K​

Driver Side
Turn wheel while on the ground and hit ball joint nut with Penetration Oil
24 MM Wrench while on the ground break nut loose on ball joint
Jack Vehicle UP and place on Jack Stands
Continue to loosen until it spin 11MM on ball joint shaft pin
24 MM to get the nut off
When enough room grab the shaft. with 7inch Vice Grip to make life easier and remove the nut

Remove lateral bolt soak with oil and don't strip it on the way out on bushing
Remove smaller nuts and bolts on big silver bushing again don't damage
To install new one install big silver bushing first into frame then the ball jointthen the lateral bushing ( use some grease on the shaft and jack to align)
Torque lower arm ball joint 150ft-lb, Forward Bolt 130FtLB, and rearward bolts and nuts 75ft lb

Good notes….having a hard time getting the 24mm off even with the vice grip.
 












I used the Dremel, cut the nut off. Actually had to do it to both sides but now I’m having a hard time lining up the knuckle with the ball joint stem. Nothing is ever easy! I’ve busted them out on my Ranger and Escape with no problems.
