hey guys,
I have a question, I just got my Mountianeer about a month ago and I love it, I only have one problem...gas milage...its horrible, esp going from a '92 Pontiac Grand Am 2.4 with a Quad 4 to a V8 5.0 AWD. Is there anything I can modify to get better gas milage???
thanks guys

Yea I have looked at that post, thats what made me register...
Ive done pretty much all I can do to get good gas milage, no quick starts, I dont even think my truck has ever been in the 65 mph range...I do alot of city driving. I'm not even picky, I just want to make like 300 miles before I have to fill the tank again

never been in the 65 mph range? maybe thats the problem, it might have cobwebs...

I get 275 a tank with the 4.0...thats a 16 gallon tank...so I am getting 16-17 mph...i need to work on that too

Just a hunch--

on the highway-once you do reach a 65 mph cruising speed, how many RPM's does the tachometer register?

hey guys
sorry, i forgot about this place for a lil bit, my overdrive is always off. but i can now get about 380 miles on a tank of gas...the only problem is that i cant go offroading anymore, i have no more front drive shaft. yea it sucks, but i had to make a decision between that and having no money

I think we're starting to get the warmer weather blends of gas here in CO, my MPG's have gone up the last 2-3 tanks

Fuel consumption (economy just doesn't belong in this sentence) is still abysmal

Also not to forget the AWD tcase helps it PARK. So without the front driveshaft it could roll away with out the parking brake set.

I have 3 cars. Lately all have been getting lower than normal fuel mileage, by about 10%. I read some where that the winter fuel the gov't now mandates may be the cause. Come spring, when the refineries switch over the the summer blend, I will check again. No Tin Foil hat conspiracy theorist here. Just might be the winter blend.

i have 145000 miles on my 5.0 and besides MSD coils and a good tune up nothing is done to the vehicle and with oversized tires i still get 15-17 mpg, 300 miles to a tank. im hoping that the recent replacement of my cam sensor and synchro will help keep my mileage more consistent as i have noticed smoother starts, smoother acceleration and no loss of power in the top end where i use to have lots of fade. im going through my first tank after the install. just adding to the convo...
