fuel pump seal

how important is the seal that goes around the top of the fuel pump?

i replaced my sending unit the other day to fix my gas gauge and didnt even know there was a seal until i found it in the box after i had put my tank back in. then i saw the seal that came off the old pump.

i'm wondering if it is worth it to drop the tank again.

Need a seal on tank and fuel pump.

It would be worth it. Expensive fumes excaping especially if you cause a fire. I feel your pain since I replaced a pump yesterday.

it wasnt to bad cause i had a lift and 2 other guys helping. i think ill do it.

Fuel will leak out the top of the tank if you don't replace the seal.
