Well, first just want to thank everyone on this site who helps answer questions.

Ok so the other day my truck just died while I was going down the road at about 50 in heavy traffic. Not good, I managed to pull off and push it into a parking lot to try and figure things out. My fuel pump wasnt working. so I figured my fuel pump just took a crap on me. Well I got it towed home and dropped the tank which sucked because it was 3/4 full and I had nothing to syphon into. Pulled the pump and tested it. It works. So I checked the relay by swapping it with the blower relay air still worked. Fuel didnt.
I then checked the fuel pump cut off switch under the carpet on the passenger side. it wasnt tripped. So I pulled out my electrical tester and ther is no power coming to or leaving the fuel pump cut off. Which is where I am stuck.

My explorer is on the road now because i spliced a wire at the fuel pum cut off and stuck it into my accessory fuse slot and jammed a heavier fuse in place. Truck doesnt run as well as it should and I really dont want to keep running it the way it is. Electrical fire waiting to happen. So any help will be greatly appreciated.

Also does anyone know where I can download an owners manual? I tried motor craft, but they only go as far back as 96'.

Did you check the fuel pump fuse under the hood?

Also, check to see if you are getting power to the FP relay. I believe the PCM relay also has to be good in order for the FP relay to work. Then the FP relay feeds the inertia switch.

Well it turned out to be a little 20a fuse in the power distrubution box under the hood....
3.00 and its all better. (I assume thats the fuel pump fuse DeRocha?)

I appreciate all the help!

That's the one.. also note that the fuel pump (like all electrical motors) can develop microscopic cracks in the insulation on its windings.. when this occurs the fuel pump will take more and more amps to do the same performance Until finally blowing the fuse.. This is what happened to my fuel pump.. It ran fine with a 25a fuse, but blew with the std 20a.. Of course the 25a would eventually blow as well, all the while causing the wires to really get hot (and hot wires in the gas tank are not my idea of fun).
