As the title says, my truck occasionaly dies at idle (two or three times a day). And has absolutely no power at Wide open Throttle.. my dads v6 out performes my modded 4.6L atm. Im past due for spark plugs, and will be changing the fuel filter along with the plugs next week. Just wanted to see if anyone has had these syptoms. Ive already checked the IAC valve, and its clean + functioning, and less than a year old. and checked the resistance on my fuel injectors... im fearfull that i might have a headgasket problem with some coolent getting into the engine, or a dieing fuel pump.. i dont want to fix either of those problems. SO. IDEA's anyone?

sounds like a 'classic' clogged fuel filter. . .

well that bothers me for two reasons..

1: i just put this fuel filter in this past summer, it has less than 10,000 miles on it.

2: About a week ago i found the fuel cap for my truck just hanging, this was the same time it started acting up. im wondering if my vehicle may have been tampered with. Im going to pop the filter and see what i find.

i thought you hadn't changed it yet, i would expect it to be OK if its only 10k on it. Hanging gas cap? Is it the same tank of gas? there was an age old 'prank' where you tossed some kitchen ingredient in the tank and it would plug up the fuel lines. . ???

there is indeed. this is actualy the second tank of gas since the incident, my first thought was water contamination in the fuel, so heat + Octane booster all around.. no improvement. Im going to pop the filter after i change it and see what i find. Im dreading the fact it might be the fuel pump itself or clogged fuel lines.
