gas gauge isnt working all the way

i finally fixed my fuel pump nd gt m gs auge working(somewhat) i can fill the tank up and the gauge will only register 3/4 tank. im sure i put the pump in right and i dont want to have to drop it again but if i have to i will i just want the to be my last option. any ideas?

Take the sending unit wire off the sending unit and ground it the chassis. If the Gauge and wires between the sending unit and the gauge are working correctly the gas gauge should read full (over full actually).

If it doesn't peg the gauge then you don't need to drop the tank since the problem is between the connector for the sending unit and the gauge itself. If it does peg, then it sounds like the sending unit isn't lowering the impedance enough when the tank is full.

somethini did nothice when i had the stock pump and sending unit it is when the gauge did work the gauge was 1/4 tank off as well. i know this because it started workin one day when i went to put gas in it and the gauge read 1/4 tank. which means it should took 15 gallons to fill. it only took around 9 almost 10. that may or may not help but just in case

did you replace just the pump or did you get a new pump with sending unit? when my explorer is running the gauge goes down to e and when i shut it off it goes to 1/4 tank.

NO! I havent done anything yet, I just bought my SPORT yesterday. went straight to gas up full but nothing.
