I have a 93" XLT 4x4.Well when I turn on my ac i smelled gas. I smell under the hood and find it is comming from that black box thing, right behind the radiator tank/windsheild washing tank.

The block box, has 2 hoses commming out of it and 2 knobs on the top. I looked in the explorer book at its some air fuel filter thing. But im still not exactly sure what it is. So should i replace it, i have no clue how much it costs, or why it suddenly makes this smell. What do u guys suggest?

It is a charcoal canister, part of emissions, helps to return unspent fuel return to tank, Ii would replace it, try a junkyard, I wouldn't spend big money for one, definitely don'e need to be driving around smelling fuel, check for cracks, or bad vaccum line first.

Replace your fuel canister purge valve. Its up under the intake and is a comon problem. Takes about an hour.

I missed that one, isn't that the one on the driver side of motor, kinda hidden?

Yea thanks for your help, ill replace the valve first tomorrow, then ill see if that works. I tell ya if it does!
