gas tank problems

I'm hoping for some help. I own a 06 Ford Exployer bought second hand. Every time I try to pump gas the nozzle stops dozens of times as if the tank is full. Is there a filter near the entrance that could be plugged? How do I fix this?

Do a search for gas tank vent tube. That is your problem.

I have had the same problem, for me I believe it was water in the tube preventing proper venting. Eventually it went back to normal. I read up on the issue, there is a revised vent tube design that you can replace yours with if desired.

Everything you need to know is on this site in other posts, just search for it. I believe there was a technical service bulletin that went with the issue.
