I recently put a 4" lift on my '93 explorer and I am now about to put on 33" Super Swamper Thornbird tires. Since I am upgrading in tire diameter, I need to gear lower. Any suggestions on gearing? Thanks in advance.

What is your current gear ratio? I would personally go with 4:56's but 4:10's will work good.

gear ratio: how important?

My stock GR is 3.73, I've been told the absolutel biggest tire I should get is 33". I am not going to regear it right now and I'm just curious as to what would happen to my performane If i try a 34 or even 35? would I lose all power to the point of being as slow as a semi? any ideas? what about fuel economy?

Chris

Thanks for any suggestions you might have for this rookie :)

Does anyone know of a good online place to buy lower gear ratios?
