Girl Friend got an 03 Explorer AWD... LIFT???

i figured the thumbs up at the end pretty much showed it was a sarcastic statement. besides, it went directly against what i was saying before that in my earlier post, which was to respect her space and not try to modify the gf's vehicle when it's not even her idea. geez.

What about this post:

Was it her idea to lift it or yours?

if it was her idea, talk her out of it, its a bad idea. And if it was you're idea, a kick in the nuts for you, for trying to mod you're gf's car probably against her will (even if she plays along), and simultaneously making it more dangerous and handle worse.

I see no thumbs-up in this post from you, so I can only assume you are not being sarcastic here. Why is it a "bad idea" to lift the truck? There are numerous members here with lifted 3rd gen's, plenty of How To articles to get the job done right, and enough knowledgable people to guide someone wanting to lift one, in the safe direction.

If you're about as ignorant as you sound in the previous posts, referencing a demoralization of women, then I completely understand. Otherwise...welcome to the modern age where women vote.

(the thumbs-up is absent here because I'm not being sarcastic....in case there is any confusion)

hmm i figured this argument was over.

in the first message, i was serious; it is a bad idea to lift a truck only for show. it makes it more likely to roll, less maneuverable, worse mileage, among other things.. so how is it a good idea to lift a truck to street drive it? i mean unless she was going to offroad it but from the sound of it it was a street driven vehicle (being awd and not 4x4, and all)

i also said in the first message that if it was not her idea, then to respect her opinion and stop forcing a lift down her throat (so i worded it slightly different but i think its clear as day)

so i guess if this is a war to call each other idiots then you win because i think thats a dumb war (no pun intended). but hey, as long as we're calling each other ignorant, can i quiz you real quick? in an open rear differential, with the wheels turning at 10mph, if you stop one wheel from turning (and the driveshaft speed remains constant) how fast will the free wheel be turning?

the free wheel shouldn't be turning at all

The free wheel would spin however fast the d-shaft makes it spin. Also, I don't think the OP was asking for opinions on what should be done to his Gf's truck. In fact, I do believe the phrase "but it's up to her" was in there. So if you actually want to be helpful post some links/brands/prices, or personal experiences with lifts.

Scroll down to MillerTimeX17. He only has a 3" body lift with 265's. Makes you stand to a little more, more capable offroad, etc. With a slightly wider stance, you should be fine with rollovers. I mean, if it's going to rollover, it's going to roll over no matter what.(I am referring to a small lift and stock lift)

If you stop one wheel from moving in an open differential, the other will still move. Hence the one wheel peel;) How much faster? Faster than I can run:D

when i hear free wheel i think of it as free rolling like under its own power. then the wheel thats being turned by the motor would be the drive wheel or wheels. like the one wheel wonder :P just figuredi would add another one limited
