- '98 Ford Explorer Sport
So I've got a '98 explorer sport with about 160k miles on it. Recently this truck has been having a few different problems. But the one issue that is concerning me most is this periodic grinding/ringing sound that sounds like it is coming from the front end of the truck. And along with the noise every once and awhile when I make a sharp turn the front wheels seem to bind up and then make a loud clunking noise. About a couple of weeks ago my dash started flashing the 4wd hi&lo lights at the same time periodically. Could this be related to the noise that I am hearing? I got under the truck and have noticed there is a decent amount of oil moisture underneath the front differential as well as the transfer case. Has anyone had this problem before? I really hope the front differential isn't shot. Please advise if you can!
