It started only every once and awhile when turning at speeds under 10 mph and when turning from a stop. Now it grinds and pops very loud on every turn. I've replaced the tie rods and the front drive shaft. They say the ball joints, u-joints and wheel bearings are fine. Any ideas on what the problem could be. The 4 wheel drive low and high lights also flash when driving. They will flash on and off about 10 times then stop for 10 minutes or so and flash again??? When turning it feels like the grinding is metal on metal and it will slow the vehicle down as if the brakes are slightly on. The brakes checked out fine too?? Thanks for any help.

Check the transfer case fluid level

I had this problem when I bought my 97. Rear shaft seal on transfer case had been leaking. Only a pint of nasty fluid came out, should be 1 3/4 quarts. New fluid and disconnect battery to reset GEM computer. Mine has been fine for 2 years now. When the fluid is low the clutch will bind. Did you replace fromnt driveshaft or one of the axle half shafts?

I think they replaced the shaft from the transfer case out. Thanks I'll have them look at the seal and fluid next.
