I got a 2003 ST this June. I tested the 4x4 operation when I got it, and everything worked fine. However, I didn't drive any decent distance in 4x4. Now, I have a grumbling noise coming from the front of my ST while in 4x4. I am thinking to check the front diff fluid first of all.
Front bearings appear to have no play or make unusual noises
No unusual noise in 2wd
Must be diff fluid? Maybe pinion bearing? Anyone else had a similar situation and found a solution? Bright ideas on what else to take a look at while I'm under there?
