So I was wondering if there is an aftermarket cable I can connect by just cutting the cable at the the end by the post. Or maybe a new kind of connector. Anyone have to do this before?

^ Pretty vague. Which ground cable? Battery, chassis ground, etc.? WHAT is not tightening?

Need a better description of your issue.

If the ground cable is "rusted" it's likely there's lot's of corrosion hidden under the plastic sheathing. Carefully use a sharp blade to slit the first few inches of the cable lengthwise to inspect. May be lot's of greenish colored oxidation around the cable and broken strands. If so, I'd replace the cable and use dielectric grease or similar on the connections as a preventative measure.
