Guage light wire

I just installed my autometer trans temp guage and was wondering where should I tap into for the guage light wire? should I just go to the radio or find the wire in the fuse box?

I would find an instrument(dash) light and tap into that wire. That way the guage will dim when you dim the instrument lights.
Not up to date on 1st gen so thats the best I can do.

How about trying to tap off the dimmer switch? That should be relatively easy to get to

I tapped into my ash tray light bulb wire, very easy to get too, and all 3 gages light up very well.

thanks guys I ended up using my illumintaion wire on my climate controls , also shoulda mentioned this is for my ram not an explorer lol
