You've really never seen VA before? You've never seen the greatest state in the nation? Wow... You've gotta come down Ben... Just get away from all of that NOVA crap and come to the mountains. 'Cept Harrisonburg is pretty much nothing but chicken farms...

But the wheelin' is supposed to be good. i ain't never been, but there are plenty of trails.

Wheelin is decent. Trails that range from 2WD gravel to nearly-locked 33's. There is something for just about everybody.

Man, I knew there was a lot of BS on this site, but wow. I DO like that area up around Harrisonburg, I AM blood related to the great Robert E. Lee, but I can't wait to leave the grand ole communist wealth of VA. Too many dumb laws for an old country fella like me.

Just move to California. I am out in San Diego right now visiting and surfing. It is entirely reversed from East Coast living, and I don't think I really like it that much. This is the second time I have been here and it seems different from before. I can't wait to get back to VA and talk to some really nice and sincere people that actually show compassion towards you.

Also, the mountains in VA are 10 times more beautiful than they are here. Its so arid and brown around here and its so lush and green in VA.

not communist....commonwealth
...one of three REAL states in the country that are commonwealths and can be more independent than any other state because of that status...

Wow, I think the General probably just rolled over in his grave hearing his kin speak so of his beloved Virginia... You can't leave, we need people like us to keep VA the way it is and not let the ignorant people turn a blind eye to history and believe that our great southern gents were nothing but a buch of racist Klan members

I was just raggin' on Harrisonburg, its pretty nice, went wheelin' there Saturday with a bunch of jeepers and had a great time.

OCC clean up is sept 6th

OCC decided on the 6th sept to run the clean up. If anyones interested check the OCC web page or give me a shout.

Unfortunately I cant go on either the 6th or the 13th my wife will be in Cali and I will be the only one around for my kids soccer games on both Saturdays.

Maybe later this fall I can get out.....

Have Fun

I can't go the 6th either, big football weekend in Hokieville. We'll get something together for later in the fall.

On another note, I was just out there this afternoon. Went to our usual swimmin hole and did a little bit of wheelin. The Sploder is pretty covered right now.

Virginia is not actually that bad, but the whole Hampton Roads area sucks. If it wasn't for the Navy giving me a paycheck, I defintely would stay down here. I could live in Northern or Western VA. That wouldn't be bad.

As a die hard Virginian, I will have to agree with you on that one. IMO, NOVA, downtown Richmond, and the Tidewater Region are the worst parts of the state. I lived in Va Beach for a year, and a half, and hated the whole time.

The rest of the state is Heaven on Earth IMHO (except for the weather:D )

Its because all the cities are independent of each other and don't give two sh!ts about what the others do. If they were smart, they would have made it one big metropolis and then the "Hampton Roads" area would be as big as say, New York or something. Well maybe not that big, but big enough to have a pro sports team. Instead of a big city by the beach that stretches 60 miles inland, you have 7 independent cities that form a booming suburbia wasteland. I am born and raised in that area and I would be happy to get out and live somewhere else. The city councils and mayors of each of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, P-Town, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Hampton and Newport News has jacked the whole Hampton Roads area up.

Thats why I go to school in the mountains. Harrisonburg is a city of 50,000 nestled in the Valley. The people are nice, the weather is beautiful most of the year and you can't beat the location. Plus the close wheeling and hiking!!!

Ahhh yes.. Thats why I loved growing up in Mr. Jefferson's community. Too small to be a city, to big to be a town, just constantly on the Top 10 Places to Live in the US. Charlottesville, VA ladies and gents.

(And Blacksburg is in the Top 10 Places to Live for Outdoor Recreation) :D

It's just that I'm from a small town of 2000 people in southern AR. It was nothing to shoot dear out the back door of the house while standing in the dining room. The city is just not for me I geuss.

Old Long Run Closed

Well, the forest serviced has closed Old Long Run road- they are planning to gate it on or around the 1st of sept . Another nice public trail closed here on the east coast-

Kephart is most likely in the crosshairs- when comment time comes up make your voices known- although it doesnt healp much. Most of the comments about OLR were from wheelers and it was still closed, so not really democratic.

Im on vac in OBX, but just wanted to let you guys know.

That really sucks. I really enjoyed going up Old Long Road.

Thanks for letting us know Steve. Sucks that another great trail is closed! We need to let them know who uses and doesn't abuse them!!!

So, are we going to get a definite date or what?
