Hand throttle!!!

Leenjen, I don't have the stock steering wheel in my explorer. I have a grant steering wheel.

Have you ever been to Idaho??? Our highways are like country roads. See but your forgetting mine is a manual tranny so if something like that happened all I have to do is push the clutch in. Plus I'd run a dog over before causing harm to myself or others. Might sound mean to some but I'd rather see a dead dog rather then me wrapped around a telephone pole.

No all Explorers didn't come with cruise control. For that matter all Explorers didn't come with power windows and power door locks either. Mine is a prime example :D From the factory I had crank up windows, manual locks, manual tranny, transfer case and hubs.

My hand throttle also allows full throttle.

i wish i could find an explorer like that.

rick, yours must have been ordered like that. i've never seen an explorer like that. i've heard that some had a manual T-case, but i thought they were swapped in.

Rick, our explorers are twins.:)

Mine is manual everything to. Tranny, t-case, hubs, windows, and locks. Well I added power locks with my alarm but it came with manual locks.

Isn't that why its an XL and not an XLT???

Yep, mine is an XL.

I always wondered what the difference between the XL and XLT was. Mine is an XL manual everthing too.

Good idea!! I really like it!! how long is the cable that you used? and how many gears is your swicht?? Maybe I can attach it, just behind the pedal..???

I'm not really sure how long the cable was. I just lightly screwed the switch to the gear shifter and ran the cable down through the boot and then on top of the tranny and up the firewall and straight out to the throttle body. I just cut to fit.

Hey Derrick, you said earlier it's a click type shifter. About how much rpm increase do you get with each click?

I played with it alot over the weekend and I'd say maybe 400-500 rpm per click. But I also moved a few things around and it now can red line it really easily to.

That is really neat. The clicks are the cool thing about it, I never thought about using the gear changer for that application.

I rigged something like that on a car I had. It was carberated and I had a brake lever connected right to the secondaries. Yeehaa, man! The vacuum actautor never opened them like that. It scared people:thumbsup:

Hey rick, how much did u pay to swap on the newer front end (all costs: labor, parts, etc.)

That's definitely very cool for manual tranny runners.

the pumpkin has sponsors, so i dont think it cost anything.
but you could get it from perrys fab n fiber for about $600

I hate to throw a wrench in your thoughts about the XL and XLT.
Mine XLT came with a Manual Transfer Case, Manual Hubs an Automatic trans and Power Windows and Locks.
I got the best of both worlds:D

I was wondering when SVO was going to post that pic. I remembered seeing this pic with him using the brake lever. Needless to say, these are cool, cheap, and functional mods there boys!

Awsome Trick!

I can see where that would come in handy. Looks like its simple enough too! Maybe you should consider a patent?

I wheel with several cops and not one of them has said anything about it being an issue.
