Hello,
I have a 2006 4.6L that came with the 6R60. It's currently around 117k and I bought it years back around 72k. I don't know the service records, but around 100k, (pre-Covid. I don't drive to work daily anymore), I did a pan drop, fluid & filter change. It was soooo much smoother. Prior to that, it felt like an engine misfire at certain RPMs. But one issue that existed back then and still exists is a harsh shift from 1st to 2nd gear. It feels like it's holding gear a little too long and then a "bang" into second. Inclines affect the "bang" too. Like taking off downhill, the shift is much harsher. Taking off at a slight uphill incline and the bang is almost nonexistent.

I'm overdue for a follow-up change, (the first time was a nightmare for me with everything from the pan dipstick breaking to the refill shooting back out and burning myself on the catalytic converter). I have another gasket, filter, and Mercon ready to go, but while it's drained, is there anything that I should jump on ahead of doing the drain/refill?

Of note: When I clear the car's memory after throttle cleaning or air filter replacement, etc, the issue seems like it's gone but creeps back up over time. And there's never been a code related to the transmission. I've also serviced the differentials and transfer case around 100k too and have been driving with a broken wheel speed sensor forever in the rear so I always disable traction control before heading out anywhere.
