You'll need to get it custom made probably. Check it out at a local exhaust fab shop

Agreed.

Why use for a kit when you can just get a muffler of your choice and get a good shop to bend some pipes any way you want?

It is a shame that all these after market suppliers are so far behind the sales of the 2006's -- Been trying to get a lot of after market stuff and all these so called hot websites -- Have Nothing -- Carrage Works has a billet grill - That's it -- K&N -- Magnaflow -- Green Filters -- None of them -- You'd think they'd get in the ball game after all these years

Explorers aren't exactly "performance vehicles". I could hardly find much for my '00 years back....i mean superlifts in the past few years just came out with their lift for the second gens. For performance stuff, the companies hit their better marekts first: mustangs (of coarse), imports, and other random "performance" vehicles (or what have been proven in the past as high marketable vehicles).

My point is: everyone with a '06+ model is going to have to just wait or spend some money to have companies make stuff for them (yeah, custom!). Plus, not many mods out there for '02-05 except billet grills

I agree with ExplorerDMB. Explorers in general aren't targeted by the aftermarket manufacturers. Why would they? Explorers now more than ever are marketed to soccer moms and the like. I'd imagine you'll see more aftermarket bits in a year or two if there is demand for it and the new Explorers sell like the old ones have.

There are lots of aftermarket accessories for 1st and 2nd generation Explorers because they sold like crazy for a lot of years. After all the bad press surrounding tires/rollovers and the fact every manufacturer jumped on the SUV bandwagon, Explorers aren't as dominant in the marketplace as they once were.

Went down to local exhaust shop today to inquire about a custom bent dual exhaust. For a single into dual exhaust setup it would be about $750 with muffler and labor. For a true dual exhaust, upwards of $1400. Does this sound correct to you all?

Sounds expensive.

I was talkin to a shop guy when i went to get my muffler welded in and he says that because of the way the undercarriage is, its impossible to route a true dual exhaust. like theres a tunnel for the stock exhaust and thats it. plus the independant rear ends make it worse.. but he could have been talking about expeditions >>

If you put your EX on a lift you will see there is limited room. One side is all gas tank. I planned on dual but had my exhaust guy look at it and he said just not enough room.I went with 3" pipe with a Magnaflow muffler a resonator and a dual stainless tip. I am very satisfied with the results.

Can we ask what the cost was (roughly if you don't want to be specific)?

X Deacon you pics of 3" Pipe with dual stainless tips on you 06 XLT.

I have dual chamber 2 flowmasters on my 01 sport and it sounds loud and deep. My x sounds mean and tough.

Deacon -- Any idea on the HP gains going to a 3" pipes on the catback & magnaflow

Thanx I'm in Phila. so Trenton isn't that far away

why not a dual in dual out mounted vertical, then turn down exhuast? that muffler is cheap, and the piping cant be much more. I have never, never, paid over 250 for an exhaust, and i refuse to. You guys should think about that. 500, no f'n way. I have had aobut 9 exhaust setups on various vehicles and all were custom done. If you can fit one, you can fit two. they way not be side by side, they might have to be back to back, but it can be done.

never let some guy or a lack of a kit stop you.

Damn, $500 is a lot of coin for an exhaust setup. I have done three exhaust setups on two different Explorers. First one was $300 (got totally ripped off), Second was $125, and my most recent was $100. Shop around and don't use kits, they cost too damn much.

I guess it's all in the eyes of the owner If you can get the best exhaust for your 06 -- Done by the best exhaust shop in New Jersy -- I'd be Okay -- If you're worried about a few extra dollars -- DON'T BUY ONE -- Spend 52.00 for a useless K&N Air Filter __ I bought the KKM intake for 140.00 -- K&N can't touch this __ That's just me -- Pleeze don't get "HOT"
