Hate my headlights!

I've searched all over the net and found to many confusing things when it came to choices and stumbled onto this site so decided to register to get some help.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/H1-Morimoto-Bixenon-Projectors-HID-LHD-Mini-w-Shrouds-/320769151538?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item4aaf54d232
same projectors i used, very easy to install. youll need to buy the harness from theretrofitsource.com. search the site, i sorta have a diy on it too.

Thanks for the info. What about the bi xenon hid kit preferably 6k, where should I purchase this?

i just ordered the hid kit from ebay for like $30. if you get those projectors, you wont need a bixenon bulb, just the regular hid bulb. i cant remember if i got the 5 or 6k. also theretrofitsource advises that the projector kit be used with a 35w ballast btw

Ah, good to know. Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated.

I just replaced my bulbs with the Silverstar Ultras. Truly amazing the improvement!! When I pulled out the old bulbs I discovered the pervious owner had replaced the driver's side bulb with a "Cool Blue" but had left the passender side as OE. No wonder my night vision was awful!! But bottom line is I can also "endorse" the SS Ultras. Still trying to decide if I want to leave the fogs stock are upgrade to SS as well.

make the plung and upgrade your wont regret it

What size are the fog light bulbs? I'm not a huge fan of Silverstars, so I'm trying to look around for other options.

Silverstars...

I have used the Silverstars in a few of the vehicles I've owned over the years and they are brighter than stock bulbs. My only complaint with them is this: for the amount they charge for a pair, you'd think they could make them last longer...

put hids in the fog lights too, you can keep the 6000k look or go way yellow for a true fog light.

I used plasmagarage.com for all hid kits. The cheap crap for $45 on e bay is pure junk. You will notice that bixenon bulbs have a scattered/blob like light output when using oem headlight housings. If you just use the low beam bulbs the light pattern is much better. Aim them lower and there is no real issue. ;)

first of all i have hids in my headlights and fog lights and they work great my "light beam" is perfect and 100% better than any autozone sylvania. im pretty sure she doesn't wanna go out and drop $400 on aftermarket projecter headlights im giving her a cheaper easy way to get brighter headlights

Your beam is not perfect. HIDs in 1st and 2nd gen stock housings are garbage.

1. The pattern is thrown ALL the hell over the road.
2. Your blinding EVERY single oncoming car, and every car your behind.
3. She doesnt need to go out and spend 400$ on aftermarket headlights. Where in the hell did you get 400$ from? A Morimoto Mini Projector kit costs around 200$ and thats the best option for her, although its gonna be a little bit of work, her or her husband might not be interested in doing that.

buy bulbs from autozone there great

Lots of stores have headlight bulbs, AutoZone has the same thing as any other store carries.

i used to have a 91 ranger and the head lights sucked until i found some 9k headlights on ebay for a good price. they were definitely a lot brighter than the stock bulbs. check ebay. u can find some good deals with returns accepted if ur not satisfied.

9K? How did you see at night? Did you even drive when it rained? Because I know theres no way in hell you could see. I won a 10,000k kit awhile back from X2, and it was pathetic. Sad thing is, it was a higher end kit too, not a cheap 40$ kit like you speak of. I couldnt see a damn thing. I may as well have put blue LEDs in the housings.

Why not just buy a bulb with something higher than 6k if you're worried about your lights not being bright enough?

Anything higher than 6k and your losing useable light. The higher the "K" rating, the more color your getting. I have 5000k in my projectors and its a diamond white color. VERY bright, and still has a small hint of blue when you look at them.

Agreed. (eBay kits are trash.) They will work decent for a few weeks, but after that, the ballasts will get moisture in them and fail, the bulbs will die, etc and you'll get in one night and try to drive home and wonder why your headlights are dead.

You say if you just use lowbeam bulbs the pattern is better? Are you referring to the "non" Bi-Xenon kits? Its the same thing. Aim them lower, that will helo a little but, but TONS of that light is still scattered up and blinding people.

A true foglight wouldnt blind people :) I have 6000k in my fogs, BUT I ONLY TURN THEM ON when im on the long backroads that have no lights, and when theres no cars coming. I would dare drive with my foglights on when theres traffic. HID in our foglights are worse than the headlights themselves.

It seems the bi xenon bulb has a very spotty pattern vs a standard xenon which blends the light more. Yes the bulb (size) is the same but I noticed the bi xenon glass is a bit different. Ill try and get some pics up here for you later. And yes the light in the headlights and fogs is blinding but hey at least I can see just fine

As long as YOU can see fine...I guess that's all that matters. I love putting my high beams and driving lights on people like that. I can see great then. I bet my nicely focused PIAAs and stock highs are brighter than the cheap garbage lights just because somebody wanted something they can't afford.

9145 are the fog bulbs, and I agree,i have silverstars in mine the orange pack not the silver pack, dunno what the difference is, they claim 50% brighter than oem and i dont buy it, I also have one new housing from an accident so its not clouded at all and still crap. might try the ones that claim 90% brighter or just toss on two 100w off road lamps as I really only need them when im way out where I live anyway

My wife has true HIDs with new housings in her Tahoe. We have it wired so that the lows stay on with the highs. They're awesome. I wouldn't say they're any better than my stock highs with the 520 SMRs, though.

the best upgrade for the fog lights with bulb 9145 is to replace with 9005 bulb

does that just plug right in?

yes to get it in the housing you have to insert it in at a slight angle since one of the notches are a litte off, its really easy ,some people cut the bulb base a bit but i found it goes in fine
