1997 Explorer 5.0 AWD XLT
New to the forum and I'm really glad that I found it. I'm going to buy my first Explorer tommorow. It's a 1997 5.0 AWD with 173000 miles on it. I'm not afraid of the miles because so far the engine seems really strong and the tranny seems to shift right so far. I have little problems like the front map lights don't work because of broken ground loops around the light housings.

The child locks are on and would really like some info on how to just remove them completely. The tempature control doesn't work. I think the door flap is broken. I have seen some info on this but still have questions.

Paint and interior is in great shape with new toyo tires for 3000.00 Whatcha think Run or is it worth fixing up. I have had it all weekend and it snowedhere and I played in the snow a bit it was easy to get around in the snow.... That almost is enough for me to make up my mind on buying it.

I may get it and I'm hoping you guys can get me thru the tough times with it.
:)
