Hey guys I'm sure this has been covered by now somewhere but I can't seem to find any info. I'm going to do a solid axle swap soon, I picked up a d44 hp out of a 78 f150 that I'm going to keep it on coils. Anyway, my question is with a Sas on my 01 5.0 with a 2" body lift, do the options open as far as header choices? I want to do some engine mods and I would love long tube or even shorties to get rid of the awful oem manifolds. Obviously obx and tm are made for the 5.0 but Mustang headers are much cheaper.

It will take some serious custom work to get mustang headers to fit on a 5.0 explorer, no matter what you do as far as lift.

1st concern- no mustang had gt40p heads that require extra clearance.

2nd concern- unless your putting a whole new frame under the truck then it's still a major clearance issue with stock expo frame and gt40p 302.
